Lankaputra Dr. Ameer Mohamed Ismail is a leading businessman in Sri Lanka and with his business experience in industry and trading in international market, his business strategies and vision have made him successful and has enabled him launch many projects in Sri Lanka over the past few decades.
He was the CEO and Managing Director of a multi-billion dollar Group, ETA ASCON and Star Group of companies in Sri Lanka, from 1990 until 2010. The company was formed and established with an investment from ETA Star Dubai and Al Ghurair Group Dubai. He served as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Managing Director until 2010. Some of his major trading activities which can be referred to his success are: Fertilizer Bulk sales under the brand name Laksaruphora, Cement / Clinker Bulk stock and sale under the brand name Double Bull and Tea export from Sri Lanka.
He had also successfully developed and launched various mega projects in Sri Lanka, which includes: Fertilizer production plant, Serendib Flour Mill, Golden Enclave (residential complex) and PANAMAX project (jointly with MAERSK called MAETA). Adding to the list, he had also collaborated with NECTAR for mobile packing operation in Colombo Port, established Western Auto network across island wide (where they imported automobiles from Japan, Dubai, UK and also was the exclusive importers of Toyota produced cars in Thailand), and finally, he was also the exclusive importer of Gulf Oil products to Sri Lanka.
He is a passionate traveller and has travelled to almost all the countries across the globe and has set footprints in those countries by meeting and venturing with local investors in setting up different projects across different countries.
